Group classes at The Healthworks are limited to just 6 people at each class.  Please contact them directly to book your place, you can of course contact me with any queries too!

Union in Margate is close to the station and in the heart of the town. It is a beautiful purpose built venue stocked with all the props we could need to build the practice that is right for you that day. Although the space holds up to 12 people I tend to stick to up to 8 to ensure everyone gets the best attention possible. Again, queries directly to me about the class are fine. Classes must be booked in advance through the website or the Mindbody app though.

Mysore/self practice style

Suitable for all levels. This is how Ashtanga is traditionally taught, and is a really powerful method of learning. Instead of all students being led through the practice simultaneously, the teacher works individually with students, guiding them from the beginning of the sequence bit by bit, and then allowing them to continue to practice that part in their own time within the class. As the teacher and student are ready they build more poses onto the sequence, adding gradually over time so that the student can remember their practice without being led. This has many benefits, some of which are below:

  • students get individual attention that is focused on moulding the practice to them, making injuries and other medical conditions extremely easy to accommodate.
  • students get to practice at their own pace, rather than trying to keep up with other students/the teacher. It is much easier to keep the attention inward and that meditative quality to a practice when not having to listen to the teacher’s voice all the way through practice!
  • students learn the sequence so that it becomes their own, they are able and encouraged to practice on their own at home.
